WHY? | DOCUMENTATION

This project was born from a deeply personal struggle. At my lowest point, I grappled with depression, feeling that my existence was an insignificant blip in a world that seemed so unjust. My successes, whether big or small, felt hollow because they didn’t address the larger issues affecting our world. Over time, and through recent health challenges, I’ve come to a profound realisation: Life itself—the very gift of being alive—is something we should cherish. It’s what connects us all and makes us inherently special.

I love this world. I love its people. I want to celebrate the beauty and diversity of the countless cultures that make up our global community. But at the same time, I cannot ignore the harsh truth: life is fragile. Our world, with all its beauty and potential, is slowly dying, and the very experiences that make us unique could be wiped away in an instant by forces far beyond our control.

When I watch documentaries that explore different cultures and lives, I am often moved by their beauty and richness. But I am equally disheartened by the reality that these unique cultures and stories are being erased, often by untouchable powers who seem indifferent to the consequences.

Yet, despite this, I remain steadfast in my belief that life, our planet, and our people are beautiful beyond measure. I dream of a future where humanity’s narrative shifts from one of division and destruction to one of compassion, understanding, and solidarity. We must help those who truly need it, not just in the abstract, but as a collective. We are all in this together.

The beauty of our world lies in its diversity—our cultural differences should be celebrated, not diminished. By uniting in our shared humanity, we can strengthen one another’s causes, becoming endless fingers on the same hand. Together, we can become an unstoppable force for good.

This project seeks to capture and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals and communities, not just as they are, but as they are interconnected. I want to document our stories, as has been done in the past, but this time, I aim to take it a step further: bridging the gaps that divide us and fostering a deep, powerful unity.

With this we can start to put humanity first and act where necessary. Our endless fingers on the same hand will form the strongest arm of resistance and it’s one we currently do not have.

See yourself.
