This project emerged from a place of complete isolation. I had no one, and I was no one. Being nobody is difficult—it's like shouting into a forest, knowing no one can hear you. At some point, you stop shouting and fall silent. But then, you begin to notice the ants beneath your feet, walking unnoticed. The world’s indifference to you feels personal, yet your own indifference to those beneath you is no different. Is it a dependency on the external to evoke change within, or is it your responsibility to ignite new interest and growth in those in a lesser position? You are not truly alone when you’re helping those who are less fortunate, and eventually, a chain reaction takes place. Piece by piece, we grow less ignorant and more compassionate, moving forward toward a kinder world.
This project was born from a place of nothingness. My goal is to shine the fearless light of nothing on something worth seeing. How many ‘nothings’ can spark an eternal flame of something? That is our challenge to discover. Despite external success, the daily progress I make as ‘kid’ working on this project means the world to me. Regardless of my personal career, social life, or existence, everything once felt like nothing. I owe it to myself and this project to continue, and by doing so, I’ve become something.
I’ve lived a life full of love from my immediate family, for which I am eternally grateful. But beyond that, I’ve faced deep loneliness and trauma that have disrupted the normalities of an ordinary life. To balance this, an extreme form of peace was required, which I have now found through self-reflection. We are all blank canvases, painted by the colours around us. My hope is to share a common belief—an essential colour among us all—so that we can move forward together, as one.
I am now, without a doubt, someone.
